Roundtable Talk for PBL

The Maple Program held a roundtable talk with guests involved in various projects in Minoh, as part of the Maple Directed Research & Reading (MDR) class on January 17, 2023. This talk had the following four objectives: (i) to listen to the guests’ experiences related to their projects, including the problems they are currently facing, (ii) to get hints for proposing a solution in the students’ PBL (Project-based Learning) activity on the topic of their country or region, which is at the center of our MDR classes in this semester, (iii) to get prepared for the PBL activity about Minoh, which will be at the center of the next semester’s MDR classes, and (iv) to create an opportunity for the Maple students to build relationships with the guests.
Our guest speakers for the day were members of the Minoh Volunteer Guide MV Club, Minoh Semba Town Planning Council, Minoh FM ‘Tackey 816’, Minoh Association For Global Awareness (MAFGA), and Mini Mi~no, as well as former students who started their careers in Japan through The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (The JET Programme) after graduating from the Maple Program. The students asked detailed questions about the guests’ projects and problems and explained how similar issues are dealt with in their countries.
Inspired by the problems and the solutions shared during the talk, they will proceed with the PBL activities for this semester and the next.
