Preparatory Lecture for PBL activities

The Maple Program held an online preparatory lecture for Maple Directed Research & Reading (MDR) on April 19, 2022. The objective of the lecture was to listen to the locals’ opinions before the PBL (Project Based Learning) activity on the topic of Minoh, which will be at the center of our MDR classes in the spring and summer semesters.
We invited members of the Minoh Volunteer Guide MV Club, Minoh Semba Town Planning Council, and student tutors as guest speakers and through their explanations, we learned about the problems that Minoh city and the Semba area are facing. In the second half of the lecture, the guest speakers and the students had free talk sessions in separate rooms for different topics: “History of Minoh”, “Nature in Minoh”, “Society of Semba”, “Local Culture in Semba”, and “Daily Life”. We enthusiastically discussed a variety of subjects.
Starting from the problems and tasks discussed in this lecture, the students will proceed with the PBL activities for this semester.
