Haiku Workshop

On the 19th and 26th of October, the Maple Program held a Haiku workshop. The aim of the workshop was to develop students' perspectives and to teach them to see things in different shades. The students watched a video lecture by Prof. Shigeki Iwai and two TAs to learn the basics of haiku, and then tried their hand at making haiku. By actually making haiku, the students were able to discover perspectives that other students had not noticed. They were also able to deepen their understanding of others' perspectives of haiku through reading each other’s haiku.
The students’ haiku will be shared not only within the class but also throughout the Maple Program for further learning.
