On June 21–22, 2023, CJLC conducted a study tour to Nara and Mie Prefecture and 55 Maple Program students participated. On the first day of the trip, they visited Hasedera Temple and enjoyed the hydrangeas which were the best season. Next, they enjoyed female divers’ demonstration and viewed museum exhibits on Mikimoto Pearl Island.
On the second day, they visited the Meoto Iwa, Ise Jingu. First, they visited the Meoto Iwa and the nearby Amano Iwaya and Futami Okitama Shrine, guided by tour guides. After visiting Naiku of Ise Jingu, they had free time at Okage Yokocho. They had a good time having lunch or buying souvenirs from Ise.
In addition to the tour, the students experienced Japanese culture, such as Japanese-style rooms, Japanese cuisine, hot springs, and yukata, at the Japanese-style hotel they stayed in. Through a two-day trip, they were able to experience Japanese culture that could not be experienced in the classroom and deepen their understanding of Japan.
